Pastel Palace

Hello and welcome to my blog  :)  Today's share is one of two Indian samples that were featured on the CBDT blog a few days ago, as part of this month's 15 Minute Cards post.  For this card I have used....only one stamp!  Yes - only one stamp - from the Paisley Elephant set; Distress Oxide inks, gold pen,; Silhouette Palace 1 mask/stencil.

I took a piece of CB cartridge paper and placed the mask across the center, using stencil glue to keep it in place.  I then made a colour pallette of DO inks on my glass mat, and using a large round brush with plenty of water I dabbed the colours randomly onto the panel.
  

I spritzed the panel with water to make the colours blend.  When the card was dry I removed the mask.  The palace image was still white.

Next I placed the matching stencil over the white palace image, using masking tape to keep  it in place.  I then added DO ink through the stencil with a blending tool.

I removed the stencil and added some DO ink to ground the palace.  I then blended ink around the edges of the panel.  

I matted the focal panel onto black card, then attached it to a white base card.  

To complete this design I stamped a sentiment onto the front of the card using black Versafine ink, and I added highlights with a gold pen.

This is a lovely, quick and easy card to make, and I really enjoyed creating it.  I think it would be suitable for any occasion and any recipient, and of course it can be created using any colours.

Floral Script

Hi there and a warm welcome to my blog  :)  I'm sharing another of my Indian samples with you today from last month's CB tv shows, I absolutely LOVED all the images!  I have used stamps from the Indian Textiles, Indian Elephants and Paisley Elephants sets; Distress Oxide inks, Little Birdy Chalk paints, black Versafine ink, clear embossing powder, gold Brilliance ink, gold pen, and Pro Marker pens.

I began this project by stamping some floral and paisley images in the corner of a piece of white colouring card, using black ink and embossing them in clear powder.  I coloured the images with marker pens adding a shadow line around the them, then masked them with masking tissue and painted the background with Muted Teal chalkpaint.  

I took a white base card and stamped one of the paisley images and a couple of worker stamps around the edges using the DOs to create a border.  I then blended ink around the outer edges of the card.

With the paint dry on the focal panel I stamped the script randomly using gold ink.  I then added a paisley and a worker image using DO inks.  To complete the panel I edged it with gold pen.

Next I took a spare piece of white card and stamped a sentiment in black ink onto it.  I cut it to size and blended ink around the edges.  I added gold pen to the outer edges and gold dots around the sentiment.

I really enjoyed creating this one, as I've said I love these stamps and I love to use lots of colour, so this one ticks all the boxes!  I wanted to create a card with a bright, fresh feel to it, and I'm so happy with how this has worked out.  I have chosen to make this a birthday card, but this design would suit any occasion - maybe even a wedding.  And with a slight change of colour it would be suitable for any recipient.

Tale of Two Palaces - Henna Tattoo Palace

Hi there and welcome to my blog  :)  I have another of my Indian samples to share with you today, featuring stamps from the Indian Elephant, Indian Textiles and Paisley Elephant sets; Versamark ink, Distress Oxide ink, a gold pen and Silhouette Palace 1 Mask.

I began with a piece of Kraft card and placed the mask in the center.  I then stamped the script image through it using Versamark ink.  I left the ink to dry as I wanted a watermark effect on the Kraft card, it reminds me of a Henna Tattoo.  I used a gold fineliner pen to trace the outline of the palace mask then I stamped several images around the  edges of the panel, the border image a paisley and a worker image.  I then added gold pen around the outer edges of the panel.

Next I took an Ivory base card and blended Distress Oxide ink through the palace stencil, then stamped several images around the edges, creating a border using the same DO ink.  

I used a paint brush and water to add colour and shading to the images.

I attached the focal panel to the card then stamped a sentiment onto a spare piece of Kraft card using Versamark again.  I cut out a sentiment panel with one of my dies, then stamped some paisley images through the die randomly around the inner edge.  I added gold pen around the outer edges of the panel and attached it to the card.  To complete the design I added dots around the words of the sentiment with gold pen.

I love this card, I've only used one colour of ink and the colour of the Kraft card but the result is a cheerful, bright and classic piece of artwork.  It would suit various occasions and recipients.

Tale of Two Palaces - Palace by Moonlight

Hello peeps and welcome to my blog  :)  Today I have the first of my Indian themed samples to share with you all, from the Chocolate Baroque shows in August.  This pretty card features stamps from the Indian Textiles and Paisley Elephant set; black Versafine ink, Distress Oxide ink - Abandoned Coral, clear embossing powder, Pearl White pearlescent paint, a silver pen and a gold pen.

I took a piece of black card and stamped the Palace-scape in the center using black ink, and embossed it with clear EP.  I then drew a large circle in the middle of the stamped and embossed image and painted it in with the pearl paint, to represent the moon.  Using the same paint I added some shimmery clouds to the sky above the Palace-scape, and some shimmery reflections below it giving an effect of water.  I then added highlights with a silver pen to the Palace-scape.

To complete the focal panel I added silver pen around the edges of it. 

I took a white base card and stamped the border image along the top and bottom edges with DO ink.  I then attached the focal panel to the base card.  I took a spare piece of white card and stamped a sentement in black.  I added highlights to the words with a gold pen and blended DO ink around the edges before attaching it to the card.  I then added some gold pen to the border pattern.   

This was a quick and easy card to make, but it looks like it took a lot of work!  It is a lovely design for lots of occasions and recipients, and I had a great time creating this and all my Indian themed samples!

Floral Sheet Music

Hi there and welcome to my blog  :)  Now - I know it's summer but being a crafter means that you have to look ahead - to Christmas!  So here is another of my Christmas samples featuring stamps from the Hark the Christmas Rose, Robin the Spruce and Let's Get Festive sets;  Versark ink, gold embossing powder, Pearlex paints, Distress Oxide ink and gold gilding wax.

I took a piece of black card and stamped the Christmas Rose image using Versamark ink, then embossed it with gold powder.  I love painting, and using pearl paints on black or dark card is one of my favourite techniques.  I decided to use quite traditional colours for the flowers, although the ones I have in my garden are burgundy .  I used white pearl paint for the petals, adding pink shading in the middle.   The pearlescent paints compliment the gold EP beautifully.  

When the paints were dry I tore the edges of the panel and added gold gilding wax before curling the top and bottom edges around a skewer, to make it look like an old piece of sheet music.  

I then took a spare piece of black card and stamped and embossed a sentiment as before.  I added gilding wax and tore the edges of the panel as before, then rolled the edges around a skewer again.  

On another spare piece of black card I stamped just the roses with Versamark ink and embossed them with gold EP.  I then painted them as before and cut them out.

I then stamped some pine branch images onto a white base card using green DO ink.  I positioned the images in one corner of the card where I wanted to put the extra flowers.  I then attached the flowers with 3D glue, over and next to the foliage images.  This gave some perspective to the group, with the foliage appearing to be under the flowers.  

To complete this design I attached the focal panel and the sentiment panel to the base card.

I'm so pleased with the result of this design, it was quite quick to make and these gorgeous stamps made creating a beautiful card effortless.  This design will definitely be one of my Christmas card designs this year!

Frosty Night in Laketown

Hello and welcome to my blog  :)  I have another Christmas sample to share with you today featuring stamps from the Winter Edges and Lets Get Festive sets; Blue Sparkle pen, black Versafine ink, clear embossing powder, gold embossing powder, gold sparkle embossing powder, gold pen, white embossing powder, acetate, holographic glitter, blue Distress Ink, Christmas foliage dies and a gem from my stash.

On a piece of drawing cartridge I stamped the town image in black and embossed it with clear powder.  I then created a background using a blue Sparkle pen, a beautiful deep shade of blue that was perfect for a night sky.  I used a large brush and mixed the Sparkle pen with water to create a wash and painted the whole panel.  The sparkle in the colour looks like stars twinkling in the sky.  I then stamped and embossed a star in the sky using gold EP.  I wanted to create a reflection of the town in a lake, so I stamped the town onto a piece of acetate using black Versafine ink and gold Brilliance ink for the star.  Next I pressed the acetate onto the panel face down underneath the embossed town image.  This creates a mirror image, and the patchy coverage of the ink adds to the impression of a reflection.

I took a sheet of linen texture card to create the base card then die cut an oval aperture into the front.  I attached the completed focal panel to the inside of the front of the card so that the scene shows through the aperture.  Using some scraps of white card I die cut a pointsettia (layered) and some pine branches, all of which I edged with blue DI.  I then stamped and embossed some of the foliage images onto acetate with white EP.  I cut around them then added glitter to each piece and to the die cuts. 

I assembled the pointsettia and added a gem to the center  before attaching all the floral and foliage embellishments around the edge of the aperture, to frame the focal panel.

I stamped and embossed a sentiment onto the front of the card using gold sparkle EP.

I really love this design, it's a fairly simple one but no less stunning.  It can be created in different colours according to taste and/or recipient.
