Punky Possibilities

Hello everyone, I have another Steampunk card for you today.  This is one of several cards which I created for the Chocolate Baroque DT blog 15 minute cards spot.  All the cards featured only take 15 minutes to make, which was quite a challenge for me but an enjoyable one  :)   For this card I have used CB stamp sets - Steampunk Butterfly and Punky Flowers; Distress Inks - Hickory Smoke, Mustard Seed, Fossilised Amber, Salty Ocean, and Broken China.  I also used Versafine ink to stamp with - Smokey Grey.

I stamped the Butterfly and a large flower directly onto a white base card.  I then put some DI inks  onto my glass mat to use as a pallet for water colouring the images.

One of the things I love about these stamps is the amount of detail in them.  I love painting and colouring, and CB stamps tick all the boxes for me.  I just added water to the inks with a fine paint brush.

I completed the design with a stamped sentiment and blended ink around the edges to create some light and dark contrast.  

I surprised myself by actually making a card in under 15 minutes, and I really enjoyed the challenge  :)  I love these colours they are so bright and cheerful, I think this card would suit all sorts of occasions.  Thank you for visiting my blog, hope to see you again soon  :)  

Frosty Trees

Hello again, I'm sharing another 15 minute card I made for the Chocolate Baroque DT blog.  This is a really quick and easy card that will have a multitude of uses!  :)  I have used stamps from CB's Design a Tree Orchard and Words of Inspiration sets; Versamark ink, white embossing powder, Opal embossing powder, glitter.    

I took a piece of navy card and stamped the tree twice with Versamark ink.  I embossed the images with white embossing powder.  I dragged the ink pad around the edges of the panel and embossed with Opal powder.  I stamped a sentiment in Opal powder as well.  I then added glitter to the trees to give them a frosty effect.  I used a Versamark pen to ground the trees and added some slopes to the foreground, then embossed those with white powder. 
      

I completed this design by matting the focal panel onto silver mirror card and layering onto a white base card.  

This is a simple design that will make a lovely Christmas card, or a winter birthday card.  Thank you for popping in today, I hope you enjoyed this post and come back soon  :)

Christmas Sunrise

Hello everybody, I hope you're all more prepared for Christmas than I am!  :)  This is the first Christmas card I've made this year, apart from samples.  I made this one recently for a very poorly young woman who loves pink  :)   
I have used dies from Sheena Douglass' Scenic Winter PP collection and CC's Contemporary Christmas collection, an embossing folder from Crafters Companion Textures collection, Distress Inks - Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar and Dried Marigold.  I also used Centura Pearl card, acetate and Brilliance Ink - Orchid. 
  

I started with a piece of white card and blended the DI's over two thirds of the panel.  I used a stencil to create a landscape on the lower third.  I then used another stencil to create sun rays, with DI.
I then die cut the Robin card front, Fir Trees and greeting from Centura Pearl card.  I added some inks and glitter to the die cuts.  



I took a strip of acetate and attached the Fir Trees.I then used strips of white card cut to size and scored to create a diorama.  I took an 8" x 8" base card and embossed the front, then added Brilliance ink around the edges.  I used red line double sided tape to attach the diorama to the card front, positioning the acetate strip behind the Robin to create a layered 3D scene.

I added the die cut sentiment at the top of the card.

As I said before, I created this card for someone who likes pink, but I really love this alternative colour scheme for a Christmas card  :)  I might have to do some more like this.  Thank you for dropping by my blog today, I hope you'll visit again soon  :)

Tree Tag Trio

Hello I've got a Christmas card to show you today, this is my third GDT blog post for Chocolate Baroque.  I love Christmas cards with a 'Nordic Folk' feel to them, mixing cool and warm colours with Kraft card.  I also love tag art.  I have used images from the CB Christmas Flourish stamp set, which happens to be the first stamp set that I ever bought from them!  :)  I also used Distress Inks - Festive Berries, Bundled Sage and Broken China; Red Versafine Ink; clear, white and blue embossing powders.  

I started by stamping the three different tree images onto Kraft card, one in red ink which I heat embossed with clear powder and two in clear ink which I embossed with coloured embossing powders.   I used Kraft card for the base card and repeatedly stamped the Holly corner image and heat embossed with white powder.  

I took a piece of white card cut a little smaller than the base card and blended the DI's all over it.  I used the Holly Flourish image to faux bleach randomly over the panel.  I then stamped a sentiment randomly in green ink, matted the background panel onto a piece of red card then layered that onto the base card.

I made a tag of each tree and edged them with green ink.  I punched a hole in the top of each tag and threaded some twine through.  

I attached the tags to the card with dimensional glue. 

I stamped a sentiment onto Kraft card and heat embossed it with white powder, then matted and layered it as before and attached it to the card.  I really like this design as an alternative to traditional Christmas colours, having said that it would also work in traditional or contemporary colours.  Thanks for popping in to my blog and I hope you'll come back soon  :)

Crystal Poppies

Hello there, today I am sharing my second project for the Chocolate Baroque GDT.  I wanted to feature Poppies in a card for November, but I also wanted to design a card that could be used for various occasions - birthdays, retirement, congratulations and so on.  I have used stamps from CB's Gothic Fragments and Poppy Meadow sets; Distress Inks, alcohol pens; masking fluid; Textures embossing folder; gilding wax; Versafine Ink - Onyx Black and Smokey Grey, and clear liquid floor polish.

I started by stamping a window image onto white card using grey ink, then masked it.  

Then I blended DI's onto the card with a blending tool.  I used Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood and Broken china.  I blended Hickory Smoke around the edges of the panel.

I used one of my die cuts as a stencil, and applied Hickory Smoke DI through it.  I then flicked some water over the background and faux bleached.

I have always been a fan of the caught in crystal technique, and I thought it would be lovely for the Poppies.  I stamped onto acetate in black and heat embossed the image in black too.  I turned the acetate over and coloured the image with alcohol pens.  I added a little floor polish on top and sprinkled some glitter into it, then placed scrumpled tissue over that and left it to dry.  When it was I cut closely around the image.

I cut a piece of black card a little bigger than the background panel and embossed it in the folder, then added gilding wax.  I removed the masking fluid from the window image and coloured it with alcohol pens.  I stamped some foliage images in first and second generation ink along the bottom of the background panel, a sentiment along the top, then added a ribbon and bow.  I matted the panel onto the embossed card, then layered them onto a base card.   To complete the card I decoupaged the Poppies onto the card tucking the base under the bow.  The Poppies and the ribbon add a splash of bright colour to this lovely card, and I think it all ties together really well.

Punky Pond

Hello peeps, I've got a Steampunk card for you today :)   I created this as another entry to Chocolate Baroque's colour challenge #28  http://chocolatebaroquechallenge.blogspot.co.uk/.  I love Steampunk, and these punky fish images are among my favourites!  I have used stamps from CB Steampunk Funky Fish, Steampunk Sea World, Underwater and Words of Inspiration sets.   I have also used Tando Creative masks - Cogs and Leaves 1; Distress Inks - Twisted Citroen, Squeezed Lemonade, Crushed Olive, Chipped Saphire and Cracked Pistachio.

I blended the Di's onto a piece of white card, dried it, then faux bleached with water randomly over the panel.  I dried it again and stencilled the cogs in yellow and the leaves in green.  The leaves double as seaweed.  

I stamped some images onto another piece of white card and water coloured them with the DI's.   I then cut them out and edged them with blue ink.  I stamped some bubbles onto the background panel and added Glossy Accents.

I added Glossy Accents to the bubble machine image as well. 

When the bubbles were dry I blended blue ink around the edges of the background panel and matted it onto blue card.  I then attached it onto a base card.  I stamped a sentiment onto white card in blue ink and heat embossed with clear powder.  I then die cut, embossed and stencilled the sentiment panel and attached it to the card with dimensional glue.  I attached the other images in the same way.  I'm really pleased with this project, I think this design is suitable for male or female cards and for a variety of occasions.

Birthday Colours

Hi there, I'm sharing a quick and easy card with you today, a birthday card that I made recently for a friend.  I've recently got into adult colouring, I hadn't really done much since childhood  :)  For this card I have used one of the pages from the Eastern Promise colouring pad in the Crafter's Companion Colorista range and Colourista alcohol pens.  I have also used dies from Crafter's Companion, Tattered Lace, and X cut, Black Soot and Seedless Preseves Distress Inks, and silver gilding wax. 

I removed the page I had selected from the colouring pad and trimmed it slightly, then blended black ink around the edges.  I cut a piece of black card slightly larger than the page and matted the page onto it.  I used some bright blue card as a base card and layered the focal panel onto it.  

Next I die cut some flowers and foliage out of pink and black card.  I cut words for the sentiment and some letters out of silver mirror card.   I blended DI around the edges of the pink flowers and foliage, then shaped them.  I added gilding wax to the black flowers, foliage and words,then shaped them as well.  I layered the flowers together and added a gem to the middle.  I also added a gem to the centre of the main pattern, and to the butterfly. 

Finally I attached all the embellishments to the card.  I love the results of this card, so bright and cheerful!  I think it could be used for different occasions too, and for male and female cards.  I used this page because I knew that my friend likes it, she admired it a few weeks ago  :)
