Feather Bookmark

Hello and welcome to my blog  :)  This is another of my Chocolate Baroque samples from last month, a quick and easy little project.  I have used stamps from the I Shall Be Your Wings set; Neenah Desert Storm Kraft card, colouring pencils, Versamark ink, white embossing powder, white pen and some ribbons from my stash.

I chose one of the feather images and stamped it onto an off-cut of Desert Storm card, using Versamark ink, and embossed it with white EP.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment below the feather then coloured them both with pencils.  I added a shadow line around both images, and edged the panel with white pen.

Next I took a piece of coloured card, another off-cut, and made sure that it was slightly wider than the focal panel and about an inch longer.  I then cut some fringing at one end.

I found some ribbon and ric-rac in co-ordinating colours to the cardstock and attached them to the coloured card above the fringing.

I then attached the focal panel to the coloured card above the ribbons.

I then attached some tiny pearls to complete the design.

This is a lovely quick little project, perfect as a gift or just as a treat for yourself.  It's a great way to use up your off-cuts of card too!
Thank you very much for dropping in today, I hope you have enjoyed this post and that you'll visit again soon  :)

Colours of Nature

Hi and welcome to my blog  :)  Today I am sharing one of my recent samples that I created for Chocolate Baroque's tv shows last month.  I have used stamps from the Lords and Ladies, Square Bubbles, Artistic Affirmations and The Rose Tree sets; Distress crayons, Versamark ink, white embossing powder, white marker pen, and a Distress Oxide ink.

I began by taking a piece of cartridge paper and scribbling three colours of crayons randomly over it, then blending the colours with water on my finger.

I stamped the Square Bubbles all over the card using Versamark ink, and embossed it with white powder.  I then added white pen around the edges.

I next took a couple of pieces of Neenah Dessert Storm card and stamped the floral image, sentiment and a Bee in Versamark ink and embossed them in white as before.  I then cut  the images into panels and edged them with white pen.

I then matted the background panel onto Kraft card.  I took a white base card and stamped the floral image repeatedly up the sides in DO ink.  I attached the background panel to the card, then arranged the focal panels and attached them to the card.

This design really showcases these beautiful stamps and the lovely fresh colours of the inks.  I think this is another good worker card, suitable for lots of occassions  and recipients.

Hearts and Honey

Hi and welcome to my blog  :)  I have a piece of home decor to share with you today, one of my samples from the Chocolate Baroque 'Bee' shows on tv.  I have used stamps from the Honey Bee and The Rose Tree sets; Distress Oxide ink, gold Soft Form paste, Pearl acrylic paint, black Versafine ink, clear embossing powder, gold gilding wax, metal embellishments from my stash.

I started by taking two wooden hearts, one slightly smaller than the other, and painted them with white Gesso.  When dry I painted them in Pearl acylic.

I took the larger heart and stamped a silhouette floral image in DO ink and embossed it with clear powder.  I repeated this again on the other side of the heart.   I then added gold gilding wax around the edges.  I did the same on the other heart using the Dandylion image.

Next I spread gold Soft Form paste onto the sunflower,  Bee Hive and Honeycombe stamps and left it to dry naturally.  Afterwards I peeled the paste off the stamps and trimmed any excess off with scissors.  I then attached the Sunflower and Bee Hive to the larger heart, and the Honeycombe to the small heart.  On some white card I stamped several bees in black ink and embossed them with clear powder.  I then cut them out, coloured them and attached them to the hearts.

I added a couple of metal embellishments from my stash that echoed the honeycombe pattern.

I attached some printed paper to the backs of the hearts, put some holes in the hearts and threaded ribbon through.

I enjoyed creating this wall hanging, I love mixed media and I love creating home decor so this piece ticks both boxes!  It would make a lovely present, and the colours could be changed to complement any colour scheme.

Thank you very much for popping in today, I hope you have enjoyed this post and will drop in again soon  :)

Bubble Flowers

Hello and a warm welcome to my blog  :)  I'm sharing another of my CB samples from the Hochanda shows last month, featuring the beautiful feathers and florals.  This project features stamps from the Lords and Ladies and Square Bubbles sets; Distress Oxide inks, colouring pencils, Distress Ink, Versamark ink,  white embossing powder and an embossing folder from my stash.

I put three colours of DOs onto my glass mat and spritzed water onto them.  I took a piece of white cartridge paper and swirled it through the inks to create a background.

I then stamped the Square Bubbles all over the panel using one of the colours of DO inks, and as I stamped I saw flower shapes cropping up all over the place in the bubbles!  So I coloured the flowers with pencils and added gold pen around the edges of the panel.

I then took a piece of Kraft card and embossed it with a folder from my stash and blended DI over the pattern to enhance it.  I attached it to a cream base card then attached the background panel.

On another piece of Kraft card I stamped the Cuckoo Pint image with Versafine ink and embossed it with white powder.  I then coloured the image with the pencils and cut around it leaving a border.  I attached it to the background panel with 3D foam pads.  I stamped and embossed a sentiment  the same way on a piece of Kraft card and die cut it, adding DI through the die and added gold pen around the edge.  I then attached it to the card with 3D foam pads.

I had a lovely time creating this card, the stamps are so beautiful that they don't need anything but a bit of colour to show them off.  This is a great worker card that would suit various occasions and recipients.
Thank you for dropping in today, I hope that you have enjoyed this post and will pop in again soon  :)

Tangled Feathers

Hello there and welcome to my blog  :)  Today I'm sharing one of my samples from the Chocolate Baroque Floral and Feather shows last month.  I have used stamps from the I Shall Be Your Wings set; alcohol markers, black Versafine ink, grey Distress Ink, and clear embossing powder.

On a piece of white colouring card I stamped three feathers in black ink and embossed them with clear powder.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment in the same way, positioning it in the centre of the feathers.

The two larger feathers have some lovely patterns in them, like zentangle, and they are a joy to colour.  I love colouring and colour blending, and the feathers are ideal for this.  When I had finished colouring them I added a shadow line around all the feathers.  I then blended DI around the edges of the focal panel and matted it onto navy card to compliment the colours of the feathers, before adding the panel to a white base card.

This is a lovely quick card to make, and a colourists dream.  This design is suitable for a variety of occasions, and for all recipients.
Thank you very much for  visiting my blog today, I hope you've enjoyed this post and that you'll drop in again soon  :)
