Fast Florals

  

Hi and welcome to my blog  :)  I have two quick and easy cards to share with you today; they are both samples from last month's CB shows on tv and are among a fantastic selection of quick cards featured on the CB Design Team blog page 15 minute cards   http://chocolatebaroque.blogspot.com.  I have used two of the new stamps that were launched on those shows - Be Kind and Floral Grunge; black Versafine ink, clear EP, black and silver marker pens, and alcohol marker pens.

I stamped each image onto a piece of CB Luxury Smooth white paper using black ink then embossed them with clear powder.  I then used alcohol pens to colour the images, adding shading and tone.  I used a very pale grey tone to add a shadow line around the flowers to make them pop off the page.  

I used the silver and black marker pens around the edges of each focal panel, then matted and layered each one onto a base card.   I stamped a sentiment in black ink onto each card to complete the designs.  
These cards are not only quick to make but they can easily be copied for batch making.  The sentiments are non specific so these cards are suitable for any occasion and recipient.  Thank you for dropping in today, I hope you've enjoyed this post - I'd love it if you left me a comment.  Feel free to browse my blog for ideas and inspiration or pop back again anytime  :)   

Autumn Harvest

Hi and welcome to my blog  :)  Today's post is one of my samples from last month's Chocolate Baroque new stamps launch.  I have used the Shared Beauty stamp, and several images from the Wild Meadow set; one of the beautiful new Designer papers from Lesley 'My Floral Soul', Distress Oxide inks, Versamark ink, Copper EP, and Koh-I-Noor paints.  

I took a piece of the Designer paper and cut it to size.  I then stamped and embossed the Shared Beauty image in copper and masked it with masking tissue.  I stamped several images from the Wild Meadow set around the focal image and embossed them in copper too.  I then removed the mask and painted the flower.




I used a copper marker pen around the edges of the focal panel and matted it onto black card.  I took a white base card and stamped several small worker images around the edges of the card to create a border, using colours of DO inks to complement the paper.  I then blended some ink around the outer edges of the card and attached the focal panel.  

I stamped a sentement onto white card and embossed it with the copper EP.  I then die cut it and added ink through the die.  I removed the die and edged the panel with copper pen.  I then matted the panel onto black card and attached it to the card with 3D gel.  

I'm really pleased with this card, it is a colourful, cheerful card that would suit many occasions and recipients.

Jewels in the Garden

Hello and welcome to my blog  :)  I'm sharing one of my CB samples from last month's tv shows today, featuring stamps from the Butterfly Daisy Collage set; CB Useful Leaves stencil; Distress Oxide Inks, Koh I Noor paints, gold embossing powder, Versamark ink, Glossy Accents and some alcohol markers.

I began by taking a piece of white card and stamping the large floral image with Versafine ink and embossed it with gold EP.  I masked the image and repeated the process overlapping the flowers.  I then stamped and embossed all sizes of the flowers on another piece of white card, and painted them in bright jewel colours.  I cut the flowers out, added Glossy Accents to the centers of the smallest sizes and set them aside to dry.  Going back to the background panel I added some foliage using DO ink through the stencil.  I blended DO ink around the edges of the panel.  I matted the panel onto coloured card and then attached it to a white base card.

When the Glossy Accents was dry I assembled the flowers on the card.  I stamped and embossed a collage butterfly image onto vellum, coloured it on the reverse with alcohol markers and cut it out before attaching it to the card.  I didn't add a sentiment to this card, but I think it would be suitable for lots of occasions and recipients.

Honeysuckle Tag

Hello and a warm welcome to my blog  :)  I have a pretty and easy design to share with you today which was one of my samples for last month's Chocolate Baroque tv shows.   I have used stamps from the Honeysuckle Butterfly, Butterfly Daisy Collage and Briar Rose Butterfly sets, Distress Oxide inks, alcohol pens, and a Kaleidascope of Butterflies stencil.  

I took a piece of CB Drawing Cartridge and blended DIs over it.  I dried the inks off with a heat gun and then stamped a foliage swirl image using one of the DIs and a butterfly image which I stamped randomly in first and second generation ink.  

I then matted the background panel onto black card and attached it to a white base card.

Next I took a piece of CB Luxury Smooth paper and die cut a tag.  I then stamped a large Honeysuckle image onto the tag with Versafine ink and coloured it with pens, adding a shadow line around the image.  I added a little ink around the edges of the tag.

I added a bow with some  twine from my stash and attached the tag to the card.

I think this is a pretty card that is simple in design but no less effective, and I think it is suitable for several occasions.

Autumn Ball

Hi there and welcome to my blog  :)  I have one of my CBDT samples to share with you today from the recent tv shows.  This bright and cheerful card features stamps from the Butterfly Dress, Floral Edges and Loving Sentiments sets; Distress Oxide inks, black Versafine ink, glitter, and a border die from my stash.

         

On a white base card I blended three colours of DOs, then stamped the floral edge using one of the coloured inks along the top and bottom edges. 

Next I took a piece of colouring card and stamped the Butterfly Dress image using black ink.  I then coloured it with pens.

  

I added some glitter to the flowers, and coloured over the bodice with a clear sparkle pen.

                     

I then coloured the background of the panel to co-ordinate with the base card colours and used an edging die to decorate the top and bottom edges of the panel.   

I blended DO ink around the edges of the panel and matted it onto black card.  I then stamped the floral edge image onto white card in black ink, painted the flowers with DO inks and cut each flower out seperately. 

I attached the focal panel to the base card with 3D foam, slightly off center.  I stamped a sentiment down the other side of the card in black ink then attached the single flowers with 3D glue gel.   

I love this card!  The colours just work so well together, and this stamp is such a beautiful image to work with.  It is a colourists dream, I have coloured it with pens for this project but I could have painted it or used colouring pencils.  This design is great for many different occasions and recipients.

Free as a Bird

Hi there and welcome to my blog  :)  I have a one of my CB samples from September's tv shows to share with you today.  This pretty design features stamps from the Birdcage Collage, Amazing Mackintosh Words and Decorative Edges sets; Distress Oxide inks, alcohol pens, black Versafine ink, clear embossing powder and some die cuts and pearls from my stash.  

I began this project  with a piece of white card and I blended three colours of DO inks over it.  You can use any colours to suit your recipients taste, I have used Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac and Cracked Pistachio on this occasion because I love the combination.  

After blending the inks I used Versamark ink to stamp the Harlequin border down one side of the background panel, and then heat embossed it with clear powder.  I did this to add dimension and texture to the panel without taking any of the colours away. 

On another piece of white card I stamped the Birdcage Collage image in black ink then coloured it with my pens.  The collage image is so beautifully drawn it is a colourists dream.

   

After matting and layering the background panel  I attached it to a white base card that I had edged with DO ink.  I then attached the focal panel with 3D tape slightly off center.  I coloured a couple of feather die cuts to co-ordinate with the card, and added a couple of pearls to them.  I then tucked them under the edge of the focal panel, attaching them with a little glue.  

I took a piece of spare white card and stamped and embossed a sentement.  I then die cut and embossed it, adding ink through the die like a stencil.  I edged the piece with black pen  and added some pearls before attaching it to the card.  

This design was a delight to create, the stamps are just so beautiful you can't help creating a lovely project.  I have chosen to make this a birthday card but it could easily be a 'get well' card, 'retirement card' or whatever you like.

An Elephant Never Forgets

Hello there and welcome to my blog  :) I am sharing a quick easy card with you today, featuring more stamps with an 'Indian influence' that I created and was featured on the CBDT blog in the '15 Minute Cards' post.  
For this card I have used stamps from the Paisley Elephant set; Versafine ink, Distress Oxide inks, Masking Tissue, a gold pen and ribbon from my stash.

I began by stamping the small Elephant image onto white card using grey Versafine ink, then I masked it with masking tissue.  I stamped the background panel over the Elephant using DO ink.  I removed the mask and painted the image with DO inks, and added accents with a gold pen.  I added gold pen around the edges of the panel, then attached a narrow ribbon to it.  

I don't know about you but I am frequently forgetting people's birthdays!  Or remembering them late - does that sound better?  ;)  So I decided to make this card a belated birthday card.  I matted the focal panel onto black card and attached it to a coloured base card, ensuring that I left enough space at the bottom of the card for the sentiment.  I then stamped that in black ink.

Although this is a quick and easy card I think the design is no less elegant, fresh and cheerful.  This card would suit any recipient, and lots of occasions.

Festival Elephant

Hello and welcome to my blog  :)  I'm sharing a piece of home decor with you today, another of my samples from the 'Indian inspired' shows last month.  My inspiration for this piece came from some pictures I'd seen of Elephants that were dressed up and painted for Festivals in India, both religious and otherwise.  

For this project I have used stamps from the Paisley Elephant, Indian Elephant and Indian Textiles sets; Distress Oxide inks, black Versafine ink, clear embossing powder, gold pen, acrylic paint, chalk paint, pearlescent paints, crackle medium, Vintage photo DI, and Grey board from my stash.  

On a piece of white stamping card I stamped the large open Elephant image in black ink and embossed it with clear powder.  I painted the image with DO inks, then stamped a few worker  images on the skin of the Elephant and on some of the cloth.  I used a white and a gold pen, and some DO inks to add colour, pattern and interest.  It didn't matter if I over stamped the outline of the Elephant as I would be painting over them.

I took a dark colour of acrylic and painted the background as I intended to use a crackle medium so a dark undercoat would show the crackles up better. When the paint was dry I applied crackle medium around the edges of the panel and left it to develop.

Next I used a dry brush to apply a neutral colour chalk paint to the background.  This shows up the crackles and adds extra texture.  When the paint was dry I blended DI around the edges and added gold pen.  I then used a little Glossy Accents on the Elephant's eye to make it shine, and added some gems from my stash.   
  

I wanted to create a frame and stand for the artwork, so I took a large piece of thick greyboard and cut a frame, a backpiece and a stand from it.  I used a pearlescent acrylic paint to colour all the pieces and left them to dry.

To create the embellishments I took some scrap black card and stamped and embossed several paisley and floral images.  I then painted each one  before cutting them out.  I assembled the frame and stand then attached the focal panel.  I attached all the embellishments to the corners of the frame and added dots around them with a gold pen.  

I'm really pleased with how this project has turned out, I wanted to create a framed plaque that looks old and distressed, like an old painting.
